Have you ever wondered about your birth month? Each month has a gemstone and a flower, but there are also other interesting facts about each of the months, too. October Flower of the Month

  • In the Roman Calendar, October was the eight month, which is where it got its name with the prefix "octo."
  • The gemstone for the month of October is the opal.

  • Black Tuesday occurred on October 29, 1929 and marked the beginning of the Great Depression.
  • Lots of famous people have birthdays in October, including Theodore Roosevelt, Hugh Jackman, Anthony Hopkins, John Lennon, Jimmy Carter, John Adams and Dwight D. Eisenhower. 
  • We celebrate many different foods in October. The month is known as National Seafood Month, National Dessert Month, National Pizza Month, and National Chili Month.
